Sequoia foundation staff is responsible for conducting the following activities:
1) Identifying the appropriate sampling population based on availability of specimens and/or data from prenatal screening, newborn screening, pregnancy testing, cord blood collection, and one of two in-hospital questionnaires;
2) creation of an analytic data file with data from a variety of data sets as well as laboratory coating results;
3) pulling, labeling, tracking, and shipping 2300 urine specimens, 2300 maternal serum specimens, 857 cord blood specimen, and 150 newborn blood spots; and
4) provide epidemiologic expertise and participate in study meetings and collaborate on manuscripts and interpretation of findings.
