Cross-Cultural Environmental Research
Culture is a highly complex and constantly evolving element that influences not just a community's values and norms, but its decision-making process, policy, and government. Studies of cultural dynamics are immensely important for developing collaborative partnerships, policy, and governance. Sequoia's skilled social scientists are able to effectively negotiate, describe, and analyze the ideological, linguistic, behavioural, geographic, and historical "boundaries" that shape culture. Sequoia has worked for the past 15 years in a wide variety of cultural settings at home and abroad, developing a specialized focus on social-ecological relationships among indigenous societies and natural resource dependent communities in Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, and the Pacific Islands region of the U.S.
