Between August 1, 2009 through January 31, 2013, CDPH and Sequoia Foundation identified newborn screening records and blood spot specimen locations for cases and controls as requested by University of California Berkeley. Freezer archives were used to search for appropriate specimens, and if found, specimens were labeled with a study ID, and one blood spot cut and shipped as a batch to the study laboratory for analysis.
